HALE'IWA UKULELES
Haleiwa Ukuleles was founded in 2010 by Joe Green, a master luthier, lifelong surfer, passionate musician, and owner of the historical Surf N Sea surf shop in Hale’iwa.
Originally from Florida, he moved to the North Shore of O'ahu in 1977 to pursue his dreams. He met his wife Naoko there, and they decided to make Hale'iwa, Hawai'i, their home. Now, they live with their three children and two grandchildren on the North Shore of O'ahu.
For almost 50 years, Joe has fine-tuned his craft and played in countless bands, always loving every moment. Joe's dedication and expertise have resulted in some of the finest instruments you’ll ever hear and earned him great recognition. One of Joe's ukuleles was used while recording Jack Johnson's song “Breakdown” from his second album “In Between Dreams,” showcasing the exceptional quality of his work. With his continued community support, it's no wonder that Joe's ukuleles were used as ukulele trophies at the Reef Hawaiian Pro in 2012 - 2014, earning him well-deserved recognition. Joe also won the prestigious Kama'āina of the Year in 2015 and the Ho'onani Award in 2008. Kama'āina of the Year: The Historic Hawai'i Foundation annually honors individuals or organizations contributing to Hawai'i's well-being, history, and culture. Ho'onani Awards are given by the North Shore Chamber of Commerce to business owners who support the local community and economy with their businesses in North Shore.
